Today’s season stop was Easter Island where the ship anchors off shore and uses tenders to ferry passengers to and from the island. Once on the island we went to the Rano Kau volcano which now has a lake in its’ crater. We the went to the far side of the volcano to the ceremonial village of Orongo to see the the flagstone buildings that were used for the bird man culture competition. Next w went to the ceremonial site of Tahai with some Moai statues and a view of the ship. Our last stop was at Ahu a Kivi a site with 5 moai that represented the 7 explorers that came from Tahiti and descovered the island.
