On This Day . . .

We docked in Reunion, an island and region of France in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar on March 28, 2018. Today we circumnavigated the entire island concentrating on the southern shore. Our first stop was the Saint Anne Church, built by Hindu people even though it was a Catholic Church. Very ornate on the outside, almost like a Hindu temple.

We then traveled to the lava fields , where we explore the vast area that led all the way down to the sea. Leaving the lava area we went inland a bit to the Mare Langue Forest which highlighted many of the native plants and herbs of the island. Finally wee went back along the coast with a brief stop at Grand Anse Beach and a view of the turbulent ocean hitting the shore.
