On This Day . . .
The 17th of March, 2018 found us docked in Phuket Island, Thailand. We took a tour which started out at Wat Chalong, the most important of the 29 buddhist temples of Phuket. It is dedicated to two highly venerable monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, who led the citizens of Chalong Subdistrict fighting against the Chinese rebellion in 1876 and with their knowledge of herbal medicine helped the injured. The temple had several buildings and smaller shrines.
From Wat Chalong we traveled along the islands beaches Surin, Kamala, Patong, and Karon. At Paton Beach we got out to view the area.
On our way back we passed many small towns and Sino-Portuguese-style buildings.
