On This Day . . .

On January 8, 2018, we docked in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, a bit rundown due to the many earthquakes that have hit the area, but has some fascinating architecture and colorful open air market places. We walked thru the small cruise terminal and proceeded to the right to the Parque Vargas, which has some interesting sculptures and monuments. Passing through the park we went to the Isla Ulvita Lookout. Isla Uvita, or Little Grape Island, is where Columbus anchored his ship in 1502. We then skirted back past the park and took in the many open air vendors, artists  in and around the market before returning to the ship.
