On This Day . . .
On January 13, 2017 we docked at Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala, where there was a cruise terminal and a handicraft area. We took a hour and a half transfer to the city of Antigua, another UNESCO World Heritage site situated in the central highlands of Guatemala, surrounded by mountains and just below the Fuego Volcano. The old town is easy to walk around and has many well preserved buildings. Many of the locals were in traditional dress, most of which were selling various fruits and crafts. One of the iconic buildings is the Arch of Santa Catalina. There were many artesian shops that were preserving some of the local crafts.
