On This Day . . .

On March 6, 2016 we landed in Vietnam at Da Nang. We were here for 2 days, so on day one we went to Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site and was a trading port, dating from the 15th to the 19th century, with examples of French Colonial Architecture. We walked around town and visited a silk embroidery shop, where all the items for sale were hand made. You could even get a hand tailored shirt, robe or even a jacket made custom in just 2 hours. We also went to the local market and mixed with the friendly locals. One of the landmarks of the town is the Japanese Bridge built in 1719. On the way back to Da Nang we dove to China Beach, a R & R site during the Vietnam War. Our final stop was at a new Chinese Temple that overlooked Da Nang harbor.
