On This Day . . .
We arrived at the far North end of Australia at Darwin on February 20, 2016. Darwin is the capitol city of the Northern Territory and is the ancestral home of the Larrakia people, the original inhabitants of the area. The City is mostly modern due to a cyclone that hit in 1974 and pretty much destroyed it. We took the Hop on Hop off bus to explore the region and started out along the coast to Cullen Bay, a marina that had a sea wall to shelter the ships. We next went to the Museum of the Northern Territory to see the history and artifacts of the native Larrakia. The tour took us past vistas of Fannie Bay, the Darwin Fishing Harbor and then through the modern city. As we left Darwin we were treated to a marvelous sunset.
