We docked on February 15, 2015 at our third stop in Australia, the city of Adelaide. We will be here overnight, so today we ventured out into the Barossa Valley, an area known for its vineyards and wineries, about 30 miles north east of Adelaide. Once in the valley most of the land was covered in grape vines. Our first stop of the day was the Langmeil Winery in the town of Tanunda. Some of the original iron stone buildings were on the property. Although the primary grape of the area is Shiraz other types of wine are also produced. For lunch we went to Peter Lehmann Winery where we had a typical Weighbridge platter consisting of meats, cheese, bread, olives and spreads. After lunch we went to the Eden Valley overlook to view the expanse of the valley. Returning to the town of Tanunda we passed the original settlement of Bethany with some original half timber structures. In Tanunda we saw some blue stone house and an original homestead. Leaving Tanunda we traveled to Hanera Winery. Here wine was fermented in both stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels. Our last stop was to Château Yaldera, a building reminiscent of a French Château and now the home to the 1847 winery.
