On This Day . . .

We docked in Papeete on the morning of January 24, 2015, at noon. It was quite cloudy when we arrived. During lunch the weather improved so we ventured out and after passing the welcome singers we ventured to the town market. Being Saturday after 1pm, when the market usually closes, only the craft and flower vendors were open, probably because of the cruise ships in town. We returned to the ship and went to see the Polynesian BBQ on the Lido Deck around the pool. This was the first of several outdoor food events that are held on the World Voyage. In the evening there was a local folkloric group, “Hei Toa Nui”, that performed local Polynesian Dances.
