April 6, 2009

Today we took a tour across “The Golden Horn” to the old part of Istanbul. Our first stop was the Roman Hippodrome race track. Here we saw the egyptian Obelisk. Across the way we then entered The Blue Mosque. This building gets its name from the many blue tiles that decorate the inside. From there we walked to Highia Sophia, now a museum. Originally it was a church under Constantine and then converted to a mosque. From there we walked to the Topkapi Palace the home of the Great Sultans. Finally we toured the Grand Bazaar.
