We docked in Marseille, France and decided to tour Avignon. We began our day by going to the town of Chateau Neuf to a winery. This is the famous wine producing region of France known for Chatauneuf du Pape wine. From there we traveled to Avignon where from 1305 to 1378 seven Popes resided. We saw the old walled city and the Popes’ Palace. We also saw the famous bridge that was bombed during WWII.
