After 2 days at sea we arrived in Cumberland Bay, South Georgia. There was a light snow falling which had covered the land. Today we went ashore by tender to explore Grytviken Whaling Station which was abandoned in the mid 1960’s. Once on shore we went to the cemetery where the infamous Sir Ernest Shackleton was buried. Along the way there were many fur seals, elephant seals and king penguins. We also visited “The Whalers’ Church” and a small museum. After our excursion we did some scenic cruising in Moraine fjord and Stromnens Bay.
