Our port today was Civitavecchia, Italy which is usually the port used to get to Rome. Instead of going to Rome we decided to go to the town of Tarquinia which has an Etruscan Necropolis (burial site). Here were hundreds of graves that were buried underground in fresco painted vaults. Several of these vaults were open for us to view.
At each site there was a sign showing the layout and particulars of the vault. Also on this site were some Iron Age burial containers. After spending some time here, we went to the Archeological Museum in Tarquinia.
